Privacy Policy
Last updated September 4, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what My Research Focus LLC (“InsideTrade”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects in connection with InsideTrade — our website and application (the “Service”) — and what we do with it. The short version: we do not sell your data, we show no advertising, and you can use the Service without ever giving us your email address.
1. What we never do
- We never sell or rent your personal information, and we never share it with data brokers or for cross-context behavioural advertising.
- We show no advertising in the Service, and we do not build advertising profiles.
- We do not share the contents of your book — your positions, the figures derived from them, or anything you have written — with third parties for their own purposes, and we do not include it in our product analytics.
- An email address is optional. You can register with a username alone, in which case we hold no address for you.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account information. Either an email address or a username. Your password is held by our authentication provider and we never see it. For a username account we also hold the information needed to restore your access, in a form we cannot read.
- Your book. The trades, orders, portfolios, assets, pairs, journal entries, notes, and tags you record or import. This is your Content, it belongs to you, and we process it to provide the Service to you.
- Correspondence. If you write to us, we keep the message so we can answer it.
Information we collect automatically
- Log data. Ordinary request information such as IP address, browser and device type, the pages and features accessed, and timestamps.
- Product analytics. Records that an action of a given kind took place. See “Analytics”.
Information from other sources
- Market data. We retrieve prices and related market information from third-party providers in order to value the positions you record. We do not send those providers information that identifies you.
3. How we use information
We use the information we collect to:
- provide, operate, maintain, and secure the Service, and authenticate you;
- store your Content and produce the figures the Service shows you;
- retrieve market prices so that open positions can be valued;
- respond to your requests and provide support;
- detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, security incidents, and technical problems;
- understand in aggregate how the Service is used so we can improve it; and
- comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service, including the fair-use limits.
4. Analytics
We use a product analytics provider to understand in aggregate how the Service is used — which features people use, and how often. These events record that an action of a given kind took place. They do not include the contents of your book — your positions, the figures derived from them, or anything you have written.
Where you are signed in, analytics events are associated with an internal account identifier rather than with your email address or username. Visitors to our public pages are counted without being identified.
5. How we share information
We share personal information only in these circumstances:
- Service providers. With the providers listed below, which process information on our behalf under contracts limiting their use of it to providing services to us.
- At your direction. When you ask us to.
- Legal and safety. When we believe disclosure is required by law or legal process, or is necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of InsideTrade, our users, or the public. Our policy is not to disclose user data in response to a request for it unless we are compelled by valid legal process.
- Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction. If your information would become subject to a different privacy policy as a result, we will post notice on this page before that happens.
- Aggregated or de-identified data. Information that can no longer reasonably be used to identify you.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
6. Service providers
The providers below process personal information on our behalf.
| Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Vercel | Hosting and content delivery |
| Neon | Database hosting |
| WorkOS | Authentication |
| PostHog | Product analytics |
We keep this list current as our providers change.
Our market data providers are not on this list: they are sources we retrieve information from rather than processors acting on our behalf.
7. Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and similar browser storage that are necessary to operate the Service — for example, to keep you signed in and to maintain your session and its security. We also use analytics cookies on the terms described under “Analytics”. We do not use cookies for third-party advertising. You can control or block cookies through your browser settings, though the Service cannot keep you signed in without the essential ones.
8. Data retention
We retain your information for as long as your Account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete Content it is removed from our active systems within a reasonable period and purged from backups within 90 days. After you close your Account we delete or de-identify your personal information within 90 days, except where we are required to retain it to comply with a legal obligation, resolve a dispute, or enforce our agreements. Log data is retained for a limited period and then deleted or de-identified.
You can export your Content from the Service at any time, and we recommend doing so before you close your Account.
9. How we protect your information
We take reasonable and appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit, encryption at rest, and restricted access to production systems. Your password is held by our authentication provider and never reaches our servers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your Account has been compromised, write to us at contact@insidetrade.net.
10. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information, including to access, correct, delete, or export it, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Much of this you can do yourself inside the Service: records you create can be edited or deleted, your Content can be exported, and your Account can be closed. For anything else, write to us at contact@insidetrade.net. We may need to verify that a request comes from you before acting on it, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising a right.
California residents. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA). You may exercise your rights of access, deletion, correction, and portability using the contact details above.
Email. Where we have an address for you, we use it for messages relating to your Account and the Service. Any marketing email we send will include an unsubscribe link; messages necessary to operate the Service are not optional while you have an Account.
11. Children’s privacy
The Service is intended for people who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, write to us at contact@insidetrade.net and we will delete it.
12. Where your information is stored
InsideTrade is operated from the United States, and the information we collect is stored and processed in the United States. If you use the Service from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.
13. Third-party links
The Service may link to websites or services we do not control. This Privacy Policy does not apply to them, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make a material change we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
